Notes from the Racing Underground




The Factor  has officially been confirmed for the $1 million Arkansas Derby April 16 at Oaklawn Park.

Baffert who trains Misremembered will run this Saturday in the $350,000 Oaklawn Handicap (gr. II).
Clarke Lane who ran second in an allowance race over a mile on Sunday at Santa Anita, could start in the $750,000 Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland on April 16, trainer Simon Callaghan said on Tuesday. Keep your eye on this dude. Please add him on your horse to watch list.


A sharp looking three year old colt Dazzling Display looked dazzling turning for home. It was his second race after a solid debut at Del Mar. He is trained by Bob Baffert and owned by Shan Kaleem.

In the Las Flores Gilded Gem turn the tables on Mother Ruth winning for Bob Baffert and Gaines-Gentry Stables.

On Sunday Wilburn stretching out to a mile looked troubled at the top of the lane. He ran off the board at odds of 3 to 5. Uncle Sam trained again by Bob Baffert had the ground saving rail pressed the pace the whole race then cleared by 2 lengths winning a highly regarded optional allowance race.

Sunday's Feature race the Potrero Grande Stakes  the lead changed four times turning for home. Amazombie was game at the wire winning by a half length over Captain Cherokee.

This week of racing is the Santa Anita Derby which includes ten 3 year olds all trying to earn enough money to get to the Kentucky Derby.
