Race 1
Green Dolphin by Settle Slew drops from $50 K to the bottom $20K in the opener today. A four year old gelding pressed a fast pace in his debut. Joe Steiner might be able to get loose with this field. Come catch this dude! Team Valor Da Vida trained by Julio Canani puts the blinkers on. He faces a modest field after running with much better company. This is his debut in California and his third career start. He gets the rail after showing fast morning works! Beware. Tsunami Warning has not hit the board in all his starts. Today with this field in might just inherit a fast pace.
1. Valor Team Vida 2. Tsunami Warning 3. Green Dolphin
Race 2
Catchy Tune looks to be the speed in this allowance route race on turf. She looks fit and in form and on the upswing. Paco trains and Daivd rides this Storm Cat filly. Smart Striking exits the same race as Catchy Tune. She had to need her last tune-up in her debut in the states. She has Joe Rosario re-riding her. Any slight improvement puts her in the winners circle. Blue Maiden almost beat Talktoomuch in her race on Feb 24th. She goes long today and might be the speed on the front-end with Catchy Tune. She is a major contender to win this race. First Settler has the pedigree to upset this field from the rail. Her last race in which she won she had a ton of troubled and had the class and spirit to win. She took off the blinkers and got Laxis for the first time. Do not take lightly.
1. First Settler 2. Smart Striking 3. Blue Maiden
Race 3
Star Dance MD and Forward Appeal exits the race with Mclean's Music........... enough said! The fastest maiden race since time began. Star Dance MD adds blinkers for the first time. He has been posting fast morning works like his March 6th blazing fast six furlong drill. Beware! Forward Appeal is bred for speed. I expect he might hit the gate running for Dan Hendricks and company. Kemper Country by Pegasus a blue blood drops in class after pressing a fast pace for $50K. As for any first time starters I like the Wild Again colt Ta Rapa trained by Howard Zucker and Joe Talamo rides............. good looking live first time starter.
1. Ta Rapa 2. Star Dance MD 3. Forward Appeal
Race 4
Lisa Cozzene won a highly regarded sprint race then tried the turf after a somewhat troubled start at the gate. She threw her hit at the gate and still finished full of run having faced nuch better then this field. She is the one to fear in this race. Hot Ticket is better at this distance then a sprint. She is a player and we will get a hint of a price in the rolling pick three. She has the speed figures on grass to make her a major contender! A longshot that looks to me to have a real shot is Ghost N Your Heart trained by a cagey trainer with look who rides this one Puglisi.......
1. Ghost N Your Heart 2. Lisa Cozzene 3. Hot Ticket
Race 5
She Can Roar by a pedigree I like has posted a fast bullet in the morning time. P-Val rides her with a filly that has gas from the start. She might just get brave on the front end at this rock bottom level. True Beauty drops in class after facing much better. I like her work outs..... she has the look and the pedigree to win early for the connections that will be over-looked by the public. O She So faces a field of rock bottom maidens where she can win this today. She exits two highly regarded maiden races that horses have come back and won. She just might be the horse to fear here! Coastal Cathy is the upsetter in this spot....... she has fast works for her comeback after her debut at Fairplex.
1. She Can Roar 2. O She So 3. True Beauty
Coastal Cathy longshot
Pick Four
5th 2,8
6th 1,5,10
7th 1,5,7
8th 3,5,7
Race 6
Good betting race with no favorite that is a stand out. Sun's Out has the deadly trainer and jockey combo going for them. Gaines and Rosario! This first time starter you might want to bet against because of the low odds and most importantly gaps in work out pattern. The speed might be Compulsive Edit who adds the blinkers for the first time. Jade River trained by Ellis fits. Hagibis ran a respectable debut. He switches to the turf with a good looking closing style. Roman Royale showed the cards his last race on turf. A major player!
1. Hagibus 2. Sun's Out 3. Roman Royale
Race 7
Power Series changed barns to Mike Mitchell. He has been off since last summer. He gets Lasix for the first time. This field is not a particular great field. Cica'sgoldengear has won over this track versus statebreds. He is a major player! Foolish Comment gets Joel Rosario and love the trainer with horses firing big-time off a long lay off. Yolden Dan is a professional who at this level is deadly. Renegande Storm trained by Marty Jones beat a highly regarded non winners of one at $25K level. He is seeking his second straight win.
1. Power Series 2. Foolish Comment 3. Yolden Dan
Race 8
1. Dancing Joy 2. Megaride 3. Popular Cause
