Thursday at Santa Anita

                            SANTA ANITA PARK

WORTH REPEATING BY DAVID MORANT

Race 1

Full Deputy ran a respectable debut after having a troubled start at the gate. He should be right there at the wire with a clean break. Brite Dreamer exits a key maiden race at a higher level. He drops to collect for Sadler who claimed him in his debut. He has been freshen up and has solid works for his comeback race. As for any first time starters P-Val who has been red hot climbs aboard Clearlyaluckyguy who looks like a runner to me. Check out those bullet works. His main problem is the unlucky rail post position. He need to clear the rail. He just might be used hard in the back-stretch and runs out of gas turning for home. Let's see how Brite Dreamer does because he got beat by Sierra Spirit who runs in the 6th race today. A number of well bred first time starters that have the look of live runners to me. I will pass on the first race no value if Brite Dreamer with Full Deputy fired there best.

Race 2

A head case Cape Truth a true sprinter is the controlling speed. Catch me is his tune. The last time he won Nixon was "President." Job Boss won at this condition off the claim on February 21st. He runs right back at a realistic level for trainer Diodoro. Tamborim has speed. He is trained by Hoffman who enters his horse for sale for the first time. Time For Atonement gets Joel Rosario and adds blinkers. He should like the fast track. Warren's Summergold is fit and in form and will take most of the betting action along with Job Boss. A short field of runners in which every horse has a shot on there best day. Pass!

Race 3

A mile on the turf hopefully this starter allowance race will stay on the turf this week. Ruby Lane has both speed and tactical speed which is a great asset to have. Her drawback is she has been the beaten favorite in her last two starts coupled with the one win out of 19 starts.  But the good news is Joel Rosario the leading rider climbs aboard for Capestro. Ancient Holiday drops back into a starter allowance with easier company. Secret Cove pressed the pace in the China Doll before fading to fourth. I like her in this easier spot. Lily's Perfect has a troubled trip her last start in December. She has been training solid for her comeback race for Dean Greenman. E Z Rachel look spotted for action as the morning line favorite. I will use her but she is no mortal lock. Secret Oath is coming back from a October lay-off. She is on my horses to watch list.

Race 4

The main threat and the most likely the favorite at post time is Bella Palooza. Taptap I'm Gone beat a modest field of Cal-breds maiden wire to wire. I like Magic Mama who first time out won a key maiden race as Jacobita came back and smoked a field of maidens. We know the two top contenders in this race but I like a upset with Magic Mama...... might be a good value on the place pools. Brown is Beige should been sitting chillin in the cat bird set from off the pace. Do not take this bonde trained filly lightly. Any improvement and he might out-run her odds for Gomez.

        1. Magic Mama  2. Bella Palooza   3. B is B

        TapTap I'm Gone

Race 5

The speed is the Candy Ride gelding Reality Ride. Come catch me if you can is the name of this tune. His main rival just might be the guy who has the most turf racing experience..... Uzziah. He should be sitting in the cat bird seat if the speed melt-down. Ride is out of the race so maybe 13th is this dudes lucky number. The FTS for Carla Gaines looks like a runner and I will take a shot with this first time starter facing a modest field of maidens. The horse to beat is Uzziah. I will single the first time starter on my final leg of my pick three. He is well bred for turf and I think there really are no monster horses in this field.

         1.   Temple's Door  2.Uzziah   3. Zapeye

$20 Across the Board on Temple's Door

Race 6

Sierra Spirit train by Bonde who flat out trains sprinters. Sierra Spirit exits a key maiden race first time out in which he won over Kingpin and Tiz A Budmans. He trains Bobby Classic who won at Del Mar last summer. Go-Go takes the call. Check out his workout tab. Set ready and roll! Danny Q is my upsetter who is trained by Ted West. His has been off since 09 but he fired first time out to break his maiden. Joe Talmo rides at double digit odds. Ted West has put seven solid works into him for his debut in 2011.

     1. Sierra Spirit   2. Danny Q  3. Bobby Classic

6th   4,5,6,7
7th    3,4,5
8th    2,7,8

Late Pick Three

6th     1,4,5,6,
7th      3,4,5
8th      2,7,8

Cost $32.00

Race 7

The good betting race for the public sprinting down the hill on turf. I'm taking a shot with Bab At The Bowster but will use Linda Lou in my late pick three. Linda Lou almost beat Reba Is Tops her last race after having been off since October of 09. A rare comeback race to say the very least.... very rare to fire first time back. She will take most of the action here. The pace might be Sweet Sophia with Linda Lou. Holy Flapper looked awesome down the hill. She adds blinker with Go-Go in the drivers seat. She has the perfect fit to come off the pace turning for home to win this race. Her odds will not be double digit today. Gumption is bred for turf and goes to a new barn for Craig Lewis. She looks spotted for action because of her solid fast workouts.... Beware of her! Luna Mist exits the race with Linda Lou. Any improvement puts her in the mix. I expect that Sarasota Sunshine needed a race in the states after her lay-off. Her form in England if she repeats these races makes her a instant contender in this wide open race. Now back to my play. Bab At The Bowster beat the boys in Europe. I picked her in her last race to hit the board not to beat Unzip Me. But to my amazement saw her go to the lead with Unzip Me! What the hell was Blanc thinking? I was somewhat surprise to see that Cecil has the patience to use Blanc again but if he see's fit to use him one more time I will stay with her again..... She is back with friends in this wide open affair

             1. Bab At The Bowster  2. Linda Lou  3. Gumption

               Holy Flapper  live longshot

Race 8

Pink Blanket needs a clean break after showing poorly her first two starts.  Doug O'Neil on March 27th put a gate drill into her morning workout. She adds the blinkers which might be the key to her success. She was Brad Free best bet of the day in her turf disaster.  She drops in class along with Tuesday With P. As for Tuesday For P she has speed  which is always deadly if left unchecked.  Easy On My Heart trained by Brian Koriner has Victory to re-ride her. She gets the short straw in drawing the rail but I expect after eight months off and a new surface she will be over-looked at the windows. A contender! The horse who goes from route to sprint coupled with the most racing experience is Satin Bouquet who is also dropping in price and class. She has the outside post to sit right off the pace for Gomez. She pressed the pace her first dirt race. I expect better if the speed rabbits Tuesday With P and Pink Blanket melt down turning for home.

      1.  Satin Bouquet  2. Pink Blanket 3. Tuesday With P
