THURSDAY AT HOLYWOOD PARK
Hollywood
Race 1 Six Furlongs Turf Claimer 50K
The pace scenario looks to have Seeking The Queen and Tommy's Pick dualing for the lead at the quarter and half mile pole. Tommy's Pick has tactical speed and can sit right off the pace. She shortens up in distance. A player! On class alone Hot Citizen had promise with talent early in her career. She drops in class and has won at this level before. She has been off since April of this year. If and I say If she is fit and ready to fire she is the horse to beat coming off the pace. Eddie Truman usually has his limited runner's ready to fire. Joel Rosario takes the call. I like the workouts in the morning getting her ready to race again. Her main rival in class and form is Come Home Quick. She ran a great race with Holloween Candy when she finished second and was well clear of the other horses in the field. She looks scary and can reel in the speed right off the pace.
1. Come Home Quick 2. Hot Citizen 3. Tommy's Pick
Race 2 Five Furlongs Maiden 32K
The fastest filly is Pacific Coast Girl in this short sprint on the main track. She adds blinkers and Joel Rosario seems fit to stick with her. The filly to fear getting her diploma is Intentional. She has speed and on class has run with much better company then Pacific Coast Girl. She has been freshen up for this race. Moreover, she drops in class and adds blinkers which just might be the key in this sprint. The trainer is heating up with 4 wins last week. Woodman's Lass has a outside chance to hit the board. She exits a key maiden race in which 2 horses have come out of that race and won. The unknown is the first time starter Warren's Sally trained by Craig Lewis. He employs Alonso Quinonez to ride this Lake George filly. He has put together 12 morning works to prepare her for her first race.
1. Pacific Coast Girl 2 Intentional 3. Warren's Sally
Race 3 Five Half Furlongs Optional Allowance
A short sprint in a contentious race for 2 year old fillies.
1. Alec's Moon.......Her daddy is Malibu Moon. A Golden Gate shipper trained by Jerry Hoffendorfer and Joel Rosario rides. Her last race was bad at Golden Gate but one bad race does not make a career. I expect she is better then her last race indicates. She does need to clear from the railwhich for young horses is alot to ask!
2. Belleofthebride........ After watching her first race I thought she would climb the class ladder quickly and rise to be a talented special filly. She has done neither but has been freshen up for this spot. If she runs like her first career race.... Her rivals will be running for second.
3. Farallon........ I think it is islands off S.F........ she has moved over to the Doug O'Neil barn........ look...... She smashed and smoked her first race at Golden Gate Fields by 8 lengths. She has the highest speed number in the field. She faces tougher company here! My main concern is...... Let's see her get headed by other horses and dig in deep and win....... then she would be a scary new face. Lot's to like.
4. Lucky Trippi....... has speed but looks like a minor award to me.
5. Sugarinthemorning...... has talent! She faded badly in her two stake races. She drops to find slower factions today. She looks like she can sit off the pace and make a solid kick to the wire. A major contender if the speed meltsdown and the likely favorite of this race. But remember the distance is five and half furlongs not six furlongs.
6. Teroda by the sire Limehouse....... looks like she is spotted for action today. I was impressed with the way she broke her maiden. Check out who she ran with her first race and she got a excellent third....... Beware!
1. Belleofthebride 2. Teroda 3. Sugarinthemorning
Golden Gate Field....Shipper (Farallon)
Race 4 Five Furlongs Maiden 32K
A short maiden sprint with the outside horse Gladiatrix trained by Bob Baffert the horse to fear! On speed figures and class alone Gladiatrix should sit right off the lead and close to get her diploma today. She shortens up in distance and has the ideal cozy post position. Baffert has strung together 6 morning workouts since her last race on Oct. 15th. She fired an excellent 5 furlong drill on Nov. 29th. Her main rivals might be the first time starter She's An Illusion or the filly on the rail Lily Amore. Lily Amore exits a key race in which Portland and Real Rockport dualed for the lead. Q Pronto flew home to win the race. She walked out of the gate and ran a respectable 4th in her debut. She was well clear of the rest of the 9 horse field. A In Excess filly trained by Kasparoff gets David Flores to re-ride. I expect with a race under her belt she should move forward towards getting her diploma. As for first time starters Jerry Hoffendorfer trains She's An Illusion by Storm Cat out of the dam Boston Harbor. She is well bred and has the pedigree to fire early in her career. She gets Joel Rosario to ride. The Gotham City filly Ventress gets Go-Go to ride. She adds blinkers for the first time. Her last race she did show some gas down the backstretch. She just might be overbet with Gomez calling the shots.
1. She's An Illusion 2. Lily Amore 3. Ventress
Race 5 One Mile Half Turf Optional
This field looks suspect to me with a small field and horses that look off form. No Dream looked awesome smoking a field of 20K dollar claimers on the main track on November 14th. Cerin is the trainer and He takes a class hike in price to face semi tougher foes. The main question is the distance but the pedigree of Danzig suggests that he should have no problem. Dynamic Range has faced better company. He should relish the turf and distance. He was claimed for 32K dollars and looks live! A major contender. The horse with back class who won the Grade 1 Joe Hirsch Turf Invitational last year is Interpatation. He looks like he needs this class drop. Imponente Purse is the horse that might upset this race. He takes off the blinkers and I expect a big performance with AC training and Alonso Quinonez re-riding this 4 year old gelding. A Player in this spot! I ended up on a horse Ballet Way with blinker's off.
1. Ballet Way
Race 6 Five Furlongs Maiden 32K
It looks to me that a first time starter will win this sprint race. But having said that Don't Tell Me That has shown speed. The postive signal is that Bejarano stays with her to re-ride. Anirish Attitude has a bullet workout on Nov. 26 which tells me she has speed. This A.P. Indy filly has a excellent gate drill. She looks to fire right out of the gate. Offlee Cute a first time starter for Bill Spawr has a solid morning work out tab. She looms large on the win end with excellent pedigree to win early. Chanta's Girl has blue blood pedigree to win early. A cagey trainer who gets P-Val to ride! He is known to work them slow in the morning time. A contender! Czaris a Cal. bred that might upset this field. Like I have said this is wide open with many unknowns........
1. Offlee Cute 2. Anirish Attitude 3. Czaris
Race 7 Six Furlongs Optional
U Turn Me Crazy won a sprint optional claimer on turf 15 days ago. She switches surface to the main track where she finished a respectable second. Peter Miller who has been hot at this meet hooks up with Joel Rosario. She has speed and will be in the hunt all the way to the wire. Bob Baffert with his 2,000 wins under his belt sends out Serene Sophia. Take note that he has freshen her up and takes the blinker's off. Beware! Ted West has a look in this race with Frequent Fame who loves the track with 4 wins out of 8 races. Warren's Blossom first race at Fairplex was special. She has the pedigree to be a talented filly. She has tactical speed to clear from the rail. I like her in this spot.
1. Warren's Blossom 2. Serene Sophia 3. U Turn Me C
Race 8 One Mile Sixteeth Turf Maiden Special
Three horses that look to get a diploma or three horses that are classic hanger's down the lane. Circa'sgoldengear was a horse I pick to win at 10 to 1 two races back. He should have won that race but was nipped at the wire. The son of Golden Gear ran a respectable turf race last time out getting third. Joel Rosario takes over for Quinonez which in my opinion on turf is not a upgrade. Absolutlypositivly is his main rival getting beat by him his last turf race. Joel Talamo rides and has been on fire at this meet. I thought Cantona would have broke his maiden long ago. He comes in fresh and looks scary as Gomez takes the call.
