THURSDAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

COMMA TO THE TOP....BY D. MORANT

Bob Baffert Today is going for his 2,000 win. Congratulations for the 1,999 wins you have!! He has runner's in the first and third races. Shout- Out!

Race 1     One Mile Sixteenth Maiden Special

Star Presence trained by Bob Baffert sold for 450K as a 2 yr. old gets the ground saving rail to get her diploma. She loves the distance coupled wih her good looking workouts makes her the filly to beat! A short price filly on Today's card. Bluegrass Chatter trained by Jerry Hollendorfer walked out of the gate her last race. She stretches out and is bred for the distance.  She has been freshened up for her performance with excellent morning drillls. Satin Bouque by the dam Giant's Causeway trained by John Sadler ran a respectable sprint after getting away slowly. She too is bred for a route. I expect major improvement today! Town Belle did not like the turf. She switches to the main track. Her first sprint race she ran a respectable third. She adds blinkers which puts her in the hunt for her diploma.

Race 2     Seven Half Maiden 25K

Call The River looks to good to be true! He routed against straight maidens his first race and finished third. He takes the biggest drop in class to face this field of maidens. He shortens up with speed.......... the horse to beat on paper! The other two top contenders are Tale Of The Bat and Forward Commitment. Tale of The bat looks fit after 2 races coming off a lenghty layoff. He has tactical speed and if the top contender is a fire sell then he looms large on the win end. The same can be said about Forward Commitment. The bomb is Warren's Wild Thing that sometimes steps up and runs a race picking off the rabbits jup front. If this is a suspect field of maidens then Wild Thing might just outrun the double digit odds and light up he tote board.

  1.  Tale Of The Bat  2. Forward Commitment 3. W'sWT

Race 3     Seven Claimer 80K

This is a wide open 2 year old filly claimer with one exception....... Teddy's Promise. She looked great in her maiden win at Oak Tree. Her last race in the 100k Sharp Cat she smoked a early pace and was eased. Not a good sign but she has put together three good works since the blowout. Check out her Nov. 28th work out coupled with the fact that JR takes the call. I like the maiden breaker Queenie Marini who looked great sprinting at Oak Tree. The waters of the Cal Cup stake race was too deep for her. She's back at the level that makes her a major contender today. Banana Cream Pie finished behind Queenie in the maiden race at Oak Tree. She is more mature and fit now..... beware she is on the upswing.

Race 4     One Mile Sixteenth Claimer 12K

Ron Ellis the new trainer for Atticus Pomponius has been freshen up for this low level route race. He gets JR to climb aboard sporting some decent morning drillls. Cat Brando is fit and takes a drop in class from open company to restricted foes today. I expect the Cat to run a big race with Bejarano calling the shots. Gobbler's Knob after 27 races got his diploma. He faces winners for the first time but should love the company and distance.

    1. Cat Brando  2. Atticus Pomponius 3. G's Knob

     Longshot My Last Tycoon

Race 5     One Mile Turf Starter Allowance

The King of Claim Mike Mitchell claimed Talktoomuch on  Nov. 4th her last race.  She is the horse for the course in which she wins on this surface at this track. The pace today looks fast and sets up for a closer .......this fits Talktoomuch to a perfect tee. She has pace to run at! A good betting race for the public. The scary horse if fit is Van Brit who has face better company then this field. Cerin can flat out get them to fire right off the bench. Alpine Yodel is coupled with Beautiful American........they both look like contenders in this race. The upsetter just might be Samba School. Great betting race to try to beat the favorites!

   1. Samba School    2. Talktoomuch 3. Van Brit

Race 6     Six Furlongs Starter Allowance

I guess looking at the tote board in the sixth race Lift Our Luck is getting hammered down by the speed monkey's. Lift Our Luck look well...... awesome in her debut after breaking slowly out of the gate then going wide coming for home then put it in another gear and smoked the field by six lengths. Jeff Mullin brings her into this starter allowance is a good sign.

Meter Me Gone is a top contender who won her debut at Del Mar. She fired a third at this condition and looks good for Peter Miller.  JR is calling the shots for this filly.

Miss Buxley is a top contender beating Meter Me Gone on Nov. 7th......... so beware of this lightly raced filly on the win end because most of the money will be on Lift Our Luck to win. A Fast pace will only help Miss Buxley to reel in horses down the lane.

    1. Lift Our Luck  2. Meter Me Gone  3. Miss Buxley

Race 7     Six Furlongs Optional 40K

The scary horse on paper is Misdealornodeal trained by Carla Gaines. The team of Gaines and Bejarano looks tough to deny in this spot today. On Oct. 2 she ran into a buzz saw with Go-on-Babe...... this  time around she looks spotted for action. Lady Alex looks like her main target. She is trained by John Sadler who has given her 4 months off. Her work tab looks excellent coming off the bench. JR takes the mount and has speed and tactical speed to put her in the winner's circle today for the Thursday's card.
Three races does not make a career as Hot Affair only gives her all in all three races with one win and two seconds......... if she steps up slightly she can beat the two top contenders in this race.

    1. Misdealornodeal 2. Lady Alex  3. Hot Affair

.

Race 8     Five Furlongs Maiden 32K

Doug O'Neil drops Devour in this short sprint for 32K dollars. I have since this trick before......... with a bullet work out..........The two year old son of Lion Heart looks spotted for action! His main rival just might be Love Five Plus Two with P-Val taking the call. He will most likely get him out of the gate fast and in the hunt all the way to the wire! It looks like Swiss Hero on the rail will be sent hard and fast to clear.......

     1. Devour   2. Love Five Plus Two  3. Swiss Hero
