| WEGNER TAKEN BY DAVID MORANT |
Race 1 One Mile Sixteenth Claimer 32K
We start out with a 2 year old filly maiden route race. L'anch drops from straight open maiden company. She switches surfaces today from the turf to the cushion track. She adds blinkers and has four solid works under her belt. She looks live in this spot. Go Tena Go had a troubled start with troubled on the backstretch as well. She is trained by Adam Kitchingham who team up with Bejarano. They are one for one at this meet. The favorite might just be Secret Cove who has gas and more important she is in form. She has routed before and takes a slight hike in class to face this field. Joel Rosario rides! The horse I think that might steal this rail is Good Acktress. Her last race she had the extreme outside post position. She faded and had a valid excuse. She looks prime for a upset with Martin Pedroza in the irons. Come Catch Me if you Can!
1. Secret Cove 2. Good Acktress 3. L'anch
Race 2 Six Furlongs Claimer 16K
I like Proud Cardenal who scratch last week in a 32K claimer. This condition will be more to her style. Does the 10 year old have another race in him? Afleet Deal looked good winning November 25K beating up on 12K company. Joel Rosario re-rides him for Jack Carava. The horse to beat! A interesting horse might be Easy On The Eye. He did not like the turf but is back to a level and distance that makes him a contender. Don Elias M. has gas and fits with class and speed figures. He can win this if the top three contenders here throw in the towel at the top of the stretch. Coffee with Milk got smoked by the top pick here his last race. He can turn the tables on this field if he displays what he did 2 races back.
1. Afleet Deal 2. Don Elias M. 3. Proud Cardenal
Race 3 One Mile Sixteenth Maiden Special
Pride Of Silver is a sprinter stretching out to a route. He is bred for this distance. He will most likely be hammered down by the speed figure monkey's. His last workout 59 and change at five furlongs looks scary to me. It's not a one horse race and there are others who look ready to get the diploma. Surfactant trained by a cagey Northern California trainer Rene Amescua takes a hike up in class. He is a player with the speed figures to match. His father ran in the Kentucky Derby so the distance is no problem for this dude. Please do not dismiss Wegner who ran against Riveting Reason who will race in the Cash Call Futurity on Saturday. He walked out of the gate for Bob Baffert. I like him for a win here! Stonewall Jackson trained by Ron Ellis and Smith stills re-rides him after walking out of the gate his first race. A Rock Hard Ten 2 year old gelding should show improvement in his second career start.
1. Wegner 2. Pride Of Silver
Race 4 Five Furlongs Turf Maiden Special
It looks like Emerald Assets with Brutually Handsome will most likely be on the front end of this race. P-Val will try to steal this race with Emerald Assets. The horse with a big speed figure is Brutually Handsome who is taking a hike up in class today. He has been off since October and has never run on the turf. He is bred for the turf with solid workouts makes him a major contender. Now, as to the first time starters........Bellingham trained for John Sadler who is hitting at 20% with first time starters get Joel Rosario to ride. He looks like a runner to me with his fast solid workouts in the morning time. Nice Move is a blue blood by A.P. Indy out of a mare Victory Speech who like the turf. Bejarano seems fit to ride him. I like the workouts and he can outrun his odds. Paddy and Alonso hook up with a Danzig horse on the turf........... cannot throw out this first time starter Cheers To Boogie. A fun race to watch!
1. Bellingham
Race 5 One Mile Sixteenth Claimer 8K
Oliver runs good fresh and more important is that he likes the cushion track. The horse to beat! Super Harmony might and I say might have found a field of low level bottom feeders that he can beat. I would not quit my day job! He does have speed and in this race that is deadly! No Streets of Heaven in this race for him to deal with. Get Off The Sugar looks better routing then sprinting. This might wake him up a route! Just Heat who will most likely be overlooked is Just Heat is a horse who is coming off the bench for Jorge Periban. He has run races at the first year that if the complete race falls apart he might find himself on the lead. Nicole Shinton has a chance to get her first win with Egypt. Egypt with a race under his belt he has run with much better company then these. He gets weight off from the bug girl and frankly she has a good chance to take all the marbles in this race.
1. Oliver 2. Egypt
Race 6 One Mile Turf Maiden Special
This looks suspect to me and I think that this race is wide open! Uzziah returns back to a surface that he runs better on. He has run races that make him a horse to fear down the stretch. It looks to me that this race will be won down the stretch. Blazing too is a horse getting back to the turf. He had trouble his last sprint race at Hollywood. A contender that looks scary to me. Indian Jones trained by Kathy Walsh looked like he would win early as his debut shows in the past performance. He then added blinkers and was vanned off. He was bench for 6 months then came back sprinting. He stretches out today and this Smarty Jones colt almost beat Temp his last race. He looks spotted for action. Bay Rush debut was excellent. Great pedigree with the right style and distance to win this race. The first time starter of Scott Hansen looks like a runner............. How many times have we seen a runner run on the main track then with the pedigree of Theatrical go on turf and improve big time...... so look at Paddy's horse Tippety Tap Tap.
Race 7 Seven Half Optional Claimer
Galleta Monstruo gets wheeled back in a week for Doug O'Neil who when he does this trick he hits at 22%. No Moonlark in this race! Joel Rosario rides. Hugs To All is fit and in form beating up on Cal. Breds........this field is a tougher crowd. He is the speed of this race and might go gate to wire if no one goes with him. This race lacks one aspect and that is speed. Concerto's Thunder will most likely sit right off the pace and try to reel Hugs To All in at the top of the stretch. Working Capital is a horse that in the past has shown speed. He might be sent to the front end to battle it out with Hugs To All. Victory With Honor is facing winners for the first time. He broke his maiden at this very track and today I see no monsters in this race. Please do not dismiss the horse that David Flores rides Boulder Creek who has run with much better horses then these. He cuts back in distance for Craig Dollase. He comes in fresh with a number of solid workout drills in the morning time. I think he looks fresh and scary for a win in this spot. It all depends if someone goes with Hugs To All.
1. Boulder Creek 2. Hugs To All 3. Concerto's Thunder
Race 8 Six Half Furlongs Claimer 25K
1.1222 2. Champagneandlilies 3. Sweet Patricia
Candy's Pleasure
Ron Ellis has put 12 workouts into this 5 year old for his return today. Talamo rides and he looks ready to run a big race. If he is fit he looks like the one to fear down the stretch. The two other contenders I like is Champagneandlilies and Sweet Patricia who both are closers down the lane. The speed is P-Val on the rail with Candy's Pleasure. If no one goes with Candy then she might just be long gone......Beware!
