SUNDAY AT HOLLYWOOD

UNUSUAL SUSPECT WINNER TURF CUP BY DAVID MORANT

 Bank   $4,098.50

Race 1          One Mile Sixteenth Claimer 20K

Never looks suspect on the drop but with the morning line low he will be well backed by the public. The pace has two speed types Dontmesroundwithjim and the true speed is Capture The Call. If he breaks away down the back stretch Capture The Call might be hard to reel in at the wire. The most logical long shot that has a fast pace to run at is No Dreams....his last race he had a difficult times trying to reel in the speed running at the wire in a slow pace. This race is much different.......... and is a horse that just pick off horses that melt down near the wire. A Player! If Never is sound and fit he is the horse to beat. A interesting horse that if he runs back to how he runs at Hollywood then Rummysecret War is the horse. He loves this track and was claimed his last race. I love the class hike because the public will overlook him at the windows. In Short, this race is a great betting race and in my opinion a wide open route claimer with many contenders and few pretenders.

Sorry readers but I have a head cold and my pick was No Dream.
I was not going to write my blog today because of a bad chest and head cold.  I put Chase but my pick if you read my blog was No Dream.  ROI $114.00

Race 2          One Mile Turf Maiden Special

I pick Circa'godengear his last race at 12 to 1 and I was rewarded with a nice pay off in the place pools. He got nailed at the wire a tough beat. He is the speed and if he does not do the classic bounce he meets a field of Cal-bred maidens today! Papa Lev one of these days will win and today is dropping out of open company. Today might be his day. I like the new face of a cagey trainer who send out Mrs Card with Victory riding and almost won at odds of 35 to 1.
A gelding with a running style that fits if he takes to the grass. Beware of this gelding.............Clocker Moment trained by Sam Semkin and Victor takes the call. Outrageous Fortune is a deep closer who is switching surfaces to grass. Mike Smith takes the mount and Bill Spawr knows horses..........so do not just dismiss!

Pick Three   1,3,6,8  with 1,3,7 with 3, 6  -$24

Race 3          Six Furlong Optional

This just might be the hardest race to pick a winner. There is not one horse that you can throw out. Irrefutable had to need his last race and he should show major improvement today. The rail is my main concern with speed on his outside. Joe Talamo will send him from the rail! Winter Camp has speed and will hook up with Irrefutable on the front end. If this is the pace scenario then the closers like Pack Your Bag will reel in the rabbits. Pack Your Bag looked awesome winning a 32K claimer. I like Mensa Heat if the speed melts down because he has tactical speed and has a killer closing kick. He is in form and almost beat Buyer's Remorse his last race. My only drawback is that he seems to get seconds too many times and rarely wins. A Classic hanger! Stacy Hope and Killer Bear are the true closers in this field. I have followed Killer Bear and have been disappointed by his lack of heart down the lane. Stacy Hope has heart and has the perfect outside post to wait then reel in the speed. Moonlark in a interesting speed type with Bob Baffert taking off the blinkers today....is he a speed horse or can he rate off the pace is the question with this one. He is a player! This is going to be a fun race to watch!

               1. Stacy Hope  2. Irrefutable  3. Pack Your Bags

$20 across the board Stacy Hope ROI $96.00

Pick three   All with  3,6 with  7,8    -$28

Race 4          One Mile Sixteenth Claimer 12K

A bottom feeder with a field of plodders except Simply Put who drops from open company and has speed. This race is a race void of any real speed. Simply Put looks scary to me and will be over bet at a short price. No value in betting her. Harmony's Hope is stretching out to two turns which tells me she might show speed. My long shot pick to outrun her odds is Victory Stand who is facing winners for the first time........ no monsters in this race....... she can win this

         1. Simply Put  2. Harmony's Hope  3. Victory Stand

       - $20

Race 5          Six Furlong Maiden 40K

Well Mrs Card the filly I was talking about is in this race. Sam S. trains and Victor re-rides her. There are droppers so lets take a look...... Don't Tell Me That showed speed in her debut against Cal-bred special weight maidens.  Wild And Gotaway adds blinkers and drops from 50K maidens. The scary first timer is Lift Our Luck by the sire who is throwing out winners. The dam whose foals all have won....... so she looks acts like she is live first time out.

  - $18.00  cost

Race 6          Five Half Claimer  8K

Another bottom dweller going Five and a Half for 8k.

I like Night Justice if he does not act up at the gate like he does...... a head case sometimes but with the deadly trainer and jockey combo of Miller and P-Val  I like this one!  Watch out for the Candy Ride gelding....... has speed~

       1. Night Justice   2. Dee Dee's Legacy 3. Get Off The Sugar

Pick four   6 with 3 with 3,4 with 9   minus $2.00

Race 7          Six Furlong Turf Claimer  40K

     1. Nothing To Fear   2. Ascot's Highflyer  3. Grand  Mischief

   - $12            added the negative tickets  $104

Race 8          Playa Del Rey Six Furlongs

Mother Ruth got a slow pace her last race and won. Can she run two races alike. She has more speed signed up in this stakes races. Holding Her Ground is the speed of the speed and can sit off the pace if she wants too. Subsidized has the perfect stalking style to reel in the rabbits. This race on papers looks like the speed will melt down at the wire and a closer will win. Can Silver Swallow turn the tables on Mother Ruth....... with the fast pace she has the perfect style to wait then reel in the speed. A wide open race!

           1. Hold Her Ground   2. Sister Dawn  3. Silver Swallow

$20 across the board on Sister Dawn

Race 9          Six Furlong Maiden Special Weight Turf

Wow...... a great race to wager on....... with many first time starters.
Town Belle ran a respectable debut finishing third. She can improve with a race under her belt. I pick Orangeblackandgold when it was on turf which they switched surfaces and put her on the main track.Today she get what she should relish the grass! She is a daughter of Rock Hard Ten trained by Sadler. As for first time starters Mrs. Rosa trained by Richard Mandella who rarely sends out babies and when he does they are live. By Mr. Greenly she has a series of long works which I love to see in first time starters. Check out who is riding her and her last drill indicates to me that she might be a special one. My Daine trained by Sadler with JR in the irons is another daughter of Mr. Greenly. I love the dam Unbridled because she should relish the distance and the turf! Rachel Jones is my pick with Mike Smith jumping on. Check out her company line that she has run with........Tell A Kelly to name a few........ if she can get to the rail and save ground then she must have some racing luck to get though the traffic then I like her to win this race. The first time on turf but with her pedigree I see no problem with this surface! Well Rachel Jones is out so..... I have mentioned in my blog about the sire of Tapid and Bound For Eden fits with a race under her belt. She was well bet in her debut. P-Val re-rides this daughter of Tapit. She looks live and is my pick in this wide open scrambler.

          1. Bound For Eden  2. Town Belle  3.Orangeblackandgold

LATE PICK THREE    ALL WITH  3,4,6,7, WITH 9

Cost $40  Last time I'm doing this when I am Sick

$20 Place on 9

                                    GOOD LUCK!
